New York Rugby Club’s High School program is open to girls and boys ages 14-19 (you must be currently attending high school) in the NYC area. There are no tryouts! Anyone, of any experience level, is invited to play. As long as you come to practice consistently and work hard, you will play in games!
7's is a terrific and fast paced style of rugby and is the version included in the 2016 Olympics. Rugby sevens training will take place in the Summer and Fall in preparation for the New York 7s Tournament every Saturday following Thanksgiving.
Our program mission is to build excellent young women and men by using rugby to develop life skills, including goal-setting, accountability, money management, responsible decision making, and by holding players and coaches to high expectations. We create opportunities to apply these life skills to rugby, academics, and character development and provide the support needed to take advantage of them. We hope our program will help you achieve all this and more.
New to rugby entirely?? No worries, the International Rugby Board put out a Beginner's Guide to Rugby Union to teach you about this game we all love.
If you want to bring rugby to your school and learn more about the sport, email firstname.lastname@example.org to set up an in-school demo and start recruiting players from your school to join the NYRC family!
The rugby community is growing in NYC and there are more opportunities for players to start playing at a younger age. For any youth/Under-14 rugby needs, reach out to Play Rugby USA and the Manhattan RFC.
As a volunteer-run non-profit program, donations go a long way. We thank you for all your support!
