Both NYRC Men’s teams will be hosting their first home fixtures of the season as DII take on Old Blue and DIII take on Old Maroon at Randall’s Island this Saturday.
DIII kick off the action against Old Maroon at 12:30. The DIII side has got off to a mixed start with a great comeback on the opening weekend to salvage a 19-19 draw to retain the Village Cup against Village Lions before succumbing to a 29-3 loss away at Lansdowne last week. Old Maroon have gotten off to a poor start with two home losses to Lansdowne (7-47) and Gotham (14-19). With both sides needing a win to kick start their seasons, this should be a tough battle.
DII follow at 2pm and face long time rivals Old Blue. The season got off to a great start with a hard fought 23-17 win to win the Village Cup back from Village Lions before getting a bonus point away win against New Haven, winning the game 48-17. Old Blue have struggled at the start of this season falling 47-29 to Fairfield Yankees and 58-12 to White Plains. However form tends to go out the window in a derby game and New York will need to ensure a good performance to keep their winning start to the season going.
We hope to see as many of you as possible over on Randall’s Island this Saturday to cheer on the teams in their opening home fixtures.
