NYRC drop a D2 heartbreaker to White Plains
Visitors come back from 11 down to win by one
In the afternoon game – kicking off at 12:00 on Randall's Island – NYRC's D2 side faced White Plains. The New Yorkers got out to an early 10-0 lead with a Luke Keogh try and a conversation and penalty by Andrew Magowan. The visitors responded with 15 points from a pair of tries and a penalty, but an AARON LUPARI try and a second Magowan conversion just before halftime sent NYRC into the break with a 17-15 advantage.
NYRC came out of the intermission strong with converted tries from Moncef Mettouchi and Aubrey Shultz sandwiching a White Plains score to push the lead to 31-20. But, midway through the half, White Plains responded with a pair of tries to nose ahead 32-31. NYRC pressed forward throughout the final 10, but weren't able to get the last points need and ended up on the wrong side of the score sheet for the second straight week.
